Crisis Services

Providing services to adults affected by mental illness in North-Simcoe

Georgian Bay General Hospital

Crisis services are provided to individuals in the Emergency Department at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH). Mental Health status and risk assessments are conducted to determine the need for hospitalization or other next steps. Whenever possible, Crisis Workers will divert people from the hospital to community services and may provide brief counseling to resolve the immediate crisis situation. The model of care is crisis intervention and brief, solution focused therapy.

Our Team: Crisis Workers are a team of full time and part time mental health professionals comprised of Registered Social Workers, Registered Social Service Workers, Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Addictions Counselors.

Eligibility Criteria: Persons 16 years of age or older presenting at GBGH and experiencing a mental health or situational crisis.

Hours of Service: Crisis Workers are on duty at GBGH 9 am to 9 pm every day.
